Cinco de Mayo is just around the corner, and Traders Village is throwing a celebration worthy of this historic holiday. On Saturday, May 4th and Sunday, May 5th, Traders Village will host 16 different bands on three different stages to ring in Cinco de Mayo with music and family-friendly fun. The music starts each day at 11:00 am under the Blue Expo, while music will start at 12:00 noon each day under the Big Red Patio.
Cinco de Mayo is observed each year to commemorate the Mexican Army’s victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla. That victory allowed slowed the French Army’s advance into Mexico City and is marked as a major military victory in Mexican history. While the holiday has a Mexican origin, Cinco de Mayo today is celebrated throughout Latin America and the United States.
In areas with large Mexican-American populations like California and Texas, the holiday is a chance to celebrate Mexican culture and heritage. Of course, many people also take the holiday as an excellent chance to down some margaritas at festivals or Mexican restaurants. Whatever your reason for celebrating is, Cinco de Mayo has become an important part of American culture.
Traders Village will honor this modern holiday with a wide variety of live music in addition to the usual shopping, rides, and food found at the outdoor market. This event is completely free to the public and fun for all ages – just remember to bring $4 for parking. In between bands, be sure to stroll around the hundreds of vendors to hunt down a bargain or ride a few of the classic American-style amusement park rides at Traders Village.
